I have submitted a paper for presentation at the conference and was wondering when I would find out if it has been accepted. I am a graduate student and am trying to get travel funding, but they need proof that I have been asked to present. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!
Thank you so much Denise. Luckily, my college was able to put the travel request through based on the email correspondence I previously had with SSS. I really appreciate your response to my question. I am very excited about presenting in April.
I checked the preliminary program today and noticed not only is my name printed incorrectly, but the wrong title is attached to my presentation. Who do I contact about getting this changed before the final program is is compiled? Also, the e-mail program@southernsociologicalsociety.org does not work. Thanks!

Hi Jon, I will contact the program co-chairs with your comments and find out about the email address. I (or a program committee member) will be in touch ASAP. Thanks for your patience.
Hi Jon, Please contact Program Committee Co-Chair Woody Beck with your concerns at wbeck@uga.edu I have contacted them both with your issue. Both chairs assured me that names and titles were not changed by the committee in creating the program but they are happy to help you. Denise
Is there any way we can get more rooms at the confernece rate for April 9? I waited until the schedule was out before getting my rooms and now they tell me that they are out of the room rate for April 9. I present on April 10 at 2 and it would be hard for me to get a plane ride to Richmond and be there on time.
Hi Geo, The SSS discount rate is supposed to be available until March 10th. I have a call into the hotel convention manager and will post his response once I hear. I am assuming you used the code given on the website, is that correct? Denise
The reservation issue should be resolved. Rooms have been added to the block so you should be able to reserve your room and get the discount rate using the code on the SSS website. The discount should be good until March 10th. Denise
Hi Lindsey, Please see the other blog list (with 31 comments). Our SSS block has sold out. The hotel added rooms to our block 2x but that is all they can do. So we have posted a list of hotels in the area that were comparable (at the time I called). Otherwise, you can do a search online for even cheaper hotels such as the "Econolodge"(but we don't know about the quality). Denise
Denise, Is there anyone who is sharing hotel rooms at the meeting to cut down on expenses? I am a 24 year old sociology graduate student at East Tennessee State University, and I would like to attend, but it will be impossible for me to pay for a hotel room on my own. Any info would be great. Thanks, Jessica
Hi Jessica, I'm sorry I don't know about how to find out about individual's room arrangements but could you put out an email to the list-serve saying you are looking for a roomie?
Miguel, I think Quantico is about an hour and a half from Richmond. I've toured it myself but it was with my students. I don't know if they do tours for individuals.

Is there anything I should do to volunteer to be a presider or discussant other than check the box when I create my submission account? Thanks!

Hello, I cannot get the group rate to work, even though it is only March 10th now. What should I do? I would hate to miss out.

How far is Richmond from Quantico? Do you know if the FBI holds tours? Thanks.
